About

Hello and Welcome to my little corner of the world!

Here you’ll find travel stories from a woman who currently has a delightful time enjoying herself while traveling all over the USA and Europe with fellow travelers and often ‘solo.’

I started writing my travel stories because my eldest granddaughter, Nichole, was listening to one such story about that happened in my 10-week road-trip in Scotland, Ireland and southern England. She really enjoyed hearing about the places I went, the people I met and the adventures I experienced. She suggested I share them with others.

“Not all Grandma’s are like you!” she exclaimed. “I’m sure there are people out there that would love to hear how you just get up and go by yourself, meet people and see and experience life. Most people, especially women, just dream about it and let the opportunity slip by simply because they are afraid of traveling by themselves.”

I thought about what she said and reflected on its truth.  I had to admit that I possess a more adventurous nature than most.  I’m not afraid to travel by myself, in fact, I quite enjoy my own company and never have any trouble making a new friend along the trail. Had I not been alone, I probably wouldn’t have met a lot of the people I have had the pleasure of befriending.

When I travel with someone else, I have a tendency to give them my full attention and am not as likely to strike up conversations with others around me. However, when I am alone I can offer my full attention to total strangers instead.  (After all, a stranger is just a friend I haven’t met yet!)  I can open up, begin a conversation, and enjoy my time with them whether I’ve known them for 5 minutes or 5 years!  It doesn’t really matter.  What really matters is the moment of now – the present.

I become engaged with some of the most interesting people who are around me at any given moment.  I’ve observed that after conversing for a little while they look around and notice I am not traveling with anyone else and then ask amazingly, “Are you traveling by yourself then? Aren’t you afraid?  Don’t you get lonely?”

“Not in the least.  There’s so much to see and so many wonderful people around me at any given moment, how could I possibly get lonely?  I just start engaging with the fascinating folks, like yourselves, and before I know it I have new friends!” I replied.

“To answer your other question,” I added “Yes, I am afraid, actually!  Afraid of not having enough time to visit all the places I’ve dreamed of  and sharing them with new friends along the way from all over the planet!”

In a nutshell; that’s my mission; to travel as often as possible, view beautiful landscapes, meet and befriend fascinating, friendly people worldwide, and then share the tales of those adventures with others. Perhaps it will just turn out to be a great creative outlet for me – an exercise for my brain and a pleasurable experience just for its own sake!  I’m not really sure, but I’m open to the possibilities.

It is my sincere hope that you will find something which inspires YOU to take a journey of your own; one perhaps that you’ve dreamed of but never taken.

At the very least – I hope you find something you can resonate with – an interesting or entertaining tale, one that makes you giggle, warms your heart or makes you smile. If any of that happens, then I have achieved my dream.

Thank you for visiting my blog and being part of my dream!
